Travel Packages
Packaged travel is either the best option or (in most cases) your only option. Before we get into the pros and cons of choosing this over independent travel or even packaged tours, I should explain that last statement.
When it comes to planning your Grand Prix trip to the Monaco Grand Prix you really need to start a year in advance – or at least from the minute the FIA announces the calendar (which is usually in November). So an accommodation, transport/transfer, ticket package is often the only way you can get to the Grand Prix if you leave things too late.
The advantage of packaged travel is that it only requires a single transaction - your flights (if required), transfers and/or car hire, accommodation, and often your race tickets are all taken care of.
You’re also free to create your own day-to-day itinerary. Obviously Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday will no doubt be spent at the Grand Prix circuit, but there is a lot of time either side of those days and Friday to fill. You get to choose where to eat, what to see, and where to go.
As with the Tours, it is best to look over all the available Grand Prix package brochures to get an idea of who offers what type of inclusions. Use this to determine your own criteria for what your package should include, the standard and location of your preferred hotel, and any race ticket options they may have that aren’t the standard Grandstand offerings.
So, whom are packages suited to? If you like the convenience of having all your travel arrangements sorted in a single transaction, coupled with the freedom to do as much or as little as you please, and don’t want to have to plan things 6 to 12 months in advance, then Grand Prix packages are worth considering.
There are many well-known travel companies that offer Grand Prix packages, as well as individual elements like flights, hotels, etc. Years of experience and the right connections allows them to offer some very competitive pricing – but don’t let price be the determining factor. There are too many elements and variants that like-for-like comparisons can’t be made. The best method of choosing between various providers delivering all the options you want is the value for money rule.
